Kids today have so much more weight to carry that many of us ever had while growing up.

School expectations are higher. Athletics and extracurriculars are more intense. And then there’s the social media component and the constant pressure to fit in.

Now imagine the challenges of living in an underserved nieghborhood on top of all that. The added stress and uncertainty makes it a lot for any young person to handle.

So the question becomes: How do we reach them? How do we support them? And how do we help them see what they can become?

Sebastian White @sebastians.kitchen is answering those questions. As chef, founder, and executive director of @the.evolved.network, Sebastian created a program that uses food as a bridge to help kids feel seen, heard, and valued.

He meets them right where they are and helps them discover their potential through cooking, gardening, connection, and creativity.

We had the privilege of experiencing the program firsthand at a school on Chicago’s West Side.

Watching the kids light up while learning how to make waffles — reminded us just how powerful food can be.

We’re deeply immersed in the food world, and this is what it’s all about: connection, confidence, and community.
